Precious Layla's Southern BBQ Sauce

This mustard and vinegar-based BBQ sauce is our twist on one of the traditional styles found in South Carolina. Precious Layla, however, is my parent’s dog (third child) and one of the youngest members of our extended dog family. After my parents fell in love with our dog Jaume, and with Christmas just around the corner we hatched a plan to get them a dog of their own. Following an arduous journey to the Mennonite country of southern PA, Layla was brought to her new home in VA.

Don’t let Layla’s adorable looks fool you, she is at best instilling fear into the local chipmunk population while actively guarding her home’s perimeter. A fierce warrior in the confines of her backyard, she is also known be fond of rolling in the grass and aggressively napping. A dog of many of the finest qualities, she also boasts a delicate palette and is quick to give criticism to the chef. We don’t know how she feels about our new BBQ sauce but we certainly hope she feels honored for us to use her namesake.

Ingredients: Yellow Mustard, Apple Cider Vinegar, Honey, Brown Sugar, Garlic, Onion, Chili Powder, and Black Pepper.
